RE: Tiare Taporo III (NZ Registration NZ 1572)

Good afternoon Jim & Jean,

Thank you for your enquiry. It’s great to hear you’ll be up in the Top End prior to taking part in the rally.

In regards to your questions, I’ll answer them the best I can at this stage:

1.      Your vessel would comfortably fit into one of our 15m or 17m berths. However, as you can understand these are the most sought after size berths. At this stage we do not any showing as available during your stay here, however, this can change quickly. In regards to booking a berth, we are very busy in the ‘dry season’ (May-Sep) due to this our policy is that we do not take booking more than 2-3 weeks out from arrival. This said – I’m more than happy to put you on a wait list so when the first berth (either 15m or 17m) becomes available, I will contact you to let you know.

The current rates are as follows:

15m berth - $228 per week (for a 1 month stay)

17m berth - $258 per week (for a 1 month stay)

Lock opening permit fee:

$270 (this permit is valid for 12 months should you wish to re-enter the Marina)

2.      To book a berth we would send you thought a booking form, lock opening permit, statutory declaration and power agreement form. These will need to be completed and sent back to us prior to entry into the marina along with pre-payment and a copy of your vessel insurance (insurance must have a minimum 10 million liability)

3.      You will need to contact the Northern Territory Government – Fisheries Department on 0413 381 094. As they will require a copy of your antifouling confirmation. Once this is done Fisheries will give us the all clear to allow entry.

4.      In entering our marina, the Lock Masters opens the lock on the hour every hour. We have 24 hour access. We do require that you give us at least 1 hours’ notice prior to arrival. You can contact our lock master on Channel 11, or via mobile 0419 421 363.

5.      Cullen Bay Marina is located 2.7km from Darwin City (approx. 5-7 mins drive)

I hope this information is helpful at this stage. Please contact us closer to your departure date and we can see what we have available for yo.

Kind Regards,

Gemma Carroll

Hi,

We are a NZ registered monohull yacht. Length OA 41" (13.45M) Beam 10' (3.28M) Draft 6'3" (2.05M). We are currently in Cairns and will be leaving here towards the end of April for Darwin where we expect to arrive near the end of June. We are taking part in the 2013 Sail Indonesia Rally leaving Darwin on July 27th.

We would like to obtain a marina berth for our stay in Darwin during which time we would be living aboard.

To that end could you please advise the following:

1) Your berthage rates and all relevant charges that would apply to our vessel.

2) How we would go about reserving a confirmed berth. We do have email capacity at sea (ZMQ5985@sailmail.com)

3) We are aware of the restrictions regarding preventing importation of marine pests. We are hauling out in Cairns for antifouling and will be re-launched on March 28th. which is 3 months from our expected arrival in Darwin. We could obtain written confirmation of our antifouling from the Cairns boatyard if necessary. Is there any other documentation which might be required? Or inspections?

4) We understand that we would approach the marina entrance as close to HW as practicable. Is it then a matter of contacting the Lockmaster on VHF or by cellphone?

5) Please advise your approximate distance from the Darwin CBD - say the Australian Customs Office.

Your early attention to these queries would be most appreciated.

Regards,

Jim Donald and Jean Tallentire
