Hi to all,
Just to let you know we have finally got some pics on our website www.tiaretaporo3.blogspot.com It's taken a while but better late than never!!
We've been hibernating in the Cairns summer (wet season) ever since we got back from Godszone. Low to mid 30'sC. Occasional maintenance early in the morning before it gets too hot. Just finished touching up the topsides from the dinghy - great fun balancing a tin of paint and painting and hanging on at the same time!
The weather has actually not been wet at all - just the occasional showery day. Certainly nothing like the shocking weather further south. And they're getting another dose as we speak. We think about our totally contrasting experience there where we recaulked half the deck and completed it in Yorkeys and here later last year.
We take the marina courtesy car about twice a week and go into town for errands etc. Just had our birthdays (Jim on 27/01 and Jean on 18/02) and celebrated at Ochre Restaurant which is very good.
It's great to see that Heather is going ahead now in leaps and bounds - she's even trying to outdo Jim at swimming. Jim has now done 7.5 kms (not all at once) and riding the pushbike to the pool. He lives in hope of a long-legged blonde who might spur him on to even greater things. Jean goes to the gym around 0630 every morning (to early for Jim) and is very pleased with the results so far. Soon she'll be the chief sheet and halyard handler. Got to keep those new-found muscles in training.
Hauling out on March 21st. so hoping that things have cooled down somewhat by then. By then anything under 30 will seem cool to us!
